University Research and Enterprise Website Launched
We have launched the website for the Research and Enterprise Department (R&E) at Royal Holloway University of London.
Commissioned last year the site is dynamic, in that the content is created via a content management system.
The site was created with a view to integrating it seamlessly within the main RHUL website and its new livery.
It features a dynamic navigation in that, as new categories, sub categories and articles are introduced from the content management system CMS, the public facing navigation legend is automatically updated to reflect the new content, both in the navigation and the search index.
There are five tiers of navigation within the website in respect of core areas and sub categories and the navigation is also mirrored by a “breadcrumb trail” so that one always knows where one is and from whence one came to arrive at the document or article currently being viewed..
Content added to the website is supported by multiple image uploads and documents can be added to articles created on the website as attachments available for download.
The content management system allows the association of one article on the website with one or more other articles across the website regardless of category or date of publication.
Incorporating a preview mechanism the CMS allows all content to be vetted prior to being authorised for publication on the website and this is governed by established user permission levels such as read only, read/write, publish, full editorial and full administrator rights. These permissions are further governed by departmental access rights.
The site map is similarly dynamic, updating automatically as the website content changes.
