Designed for the Department of Politics and International Relations at Royal Holloway University of London, the Researcher Development Initiative supports the training and development of researchers in the social sciences at all stages of their career.
Website Facilities The site utilises an RSS feed from Southampton University (RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication" -- it's a format for distributing and gathering content from sources across the Web, including newspapers and magazines) for the "Events" section.
The site includes a content management system(CMS) allowing the composition of news items, documents and projects.
The Projects section allows the creation of individual projects each of which then has a 4 tier sub menu contributing to and expanding upon it,these being in this instance: Research Resources People Project News
In addition the website allows the upload of pdf and word documents to be associated with various online dynamic content, documents or articles which can then be downloaded or printed. This is all (with the exception of the RSS Feed) managed via the CMS which is a user friendly system creating and publishing documentation (in a manner not too dissimilar to that of creating your every day word document) online via a password protected admin interface.
