Webcasting
As the spread of broadband makes video
on the Web more viable, more of our clients
are asking us about delivering video over
the Internet.
We were responsible for a pioneering 12-hour
live Webcast of an Endurance Race in early
2003. The key thing about this event was
that it took place over an area of about
900 kilometres square, in a desert location
about 50 kilometres from Abu Dhabi.
We will be covering similar events this
coming winter.
But you don't have to have a 9-person camera
crew, two helicopters and satellite up-
and downlinks to get video on the Web.
From static locations in cities, the process
is much simpler.
As always with Webmaster, accesibility
is top of our list, so on webcasting websites
we provide facilities for users to check
whether they have suitable video player
software (we support both RealVideo and
Windows Streaming), and to check their
bandwidth (we provide a low-bandwidth
and a broadband stream for each format).
